The university course “Positive Energy Districts – Trinational course on Integrated Spatial and Energy Planning Approaches for existing settlements ” aims to address the topics of spatial planning, climate change, energy saving, renewable energy, mobility, urban and regional planning, integrated planning approaches, scenario and backcasting methods, and energy governance. These ideas were transformed into developing the concept of positive energy districts as the leading concept for energy governance in the EU. Sadly, the emergence of the topic was underlined by the ongoing crisis in energy prices highlighting the need to alter the way for the energy is produced, transmitted and utilized by the end users.
